Access/Fire statement for the Byre, the Shippon, the Tallet

Introduction

Mennabroom Cottages are a group of three cottages with its own sitting area and beyond the car park a large lawned area for games and relaxation. The accommodation has a comfortable cottagey feel with exposed timbers. They are all centrally heated and the radiators are individually controlled. The Byre has a wood burner.

Pre-arrival

We are located 8.5 miles from Bodmin and 11 miles from Liskeard.
The nearest train station is Bodmin Parkway and is 5 miles away.
The nearest cities are Truro 33 miles and Plymouth 31 miles.

Groceries can be ordered on line at www.sainsburys, www.asda or www.tesco who delivers to this area. We would be happy to see it in for you.

Arrival and car parking

Please check in at the farmhouse to collect your keys before going to your cottage. The farmhouse is approached along the same entrance drive; do not turn off by cottage sign. There is plenty of level parking for you to collect your keys. There are 5 steps down to the back door or if you do a short detour you can stay on the level. The resident owners are Tania and Richard Berrett.

The cottages

The Byre

This cottage has 6 wide steps down from the car park to the front door. All the accommodation is on one level. It has a standard height kitchen and normally fitted shower room. The shower has a step up of some 30cms. Light switches and sockets are fitted at standard height. Apart from the kitchen and shower room it is carpeted throughout. Water is supplied to the cottage from our own borehole. At night the cottage has a PIR light to light your walk from the car park to the front door. It is also equipped with a rechargeable torch for use during your stay. This cottage is fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors which arehard wired and radio linked and tested weekly.All electrical appliances are PAT tested annually.  A fire blanket and extingishers are provided in the kitchen. This cottage has a back door with only two steps into the property which is useful if you have difficulty with steps and ample parking along side.

The Shippon

This cottage has 6 wide steps down from the car park to the front door. All the accommodation is on one level, with just one step from the hall into the dining/sitting room. It has a standard height kitchen and normally fitted shower room. The shower has a small step of 23cms into it. Light switches and sockets are fitted at standard height. Apart from the kitchen and shower room it is carpeted throughout. Water is supplied to the cottage from our own borehole. At night the cottage has a PIR light to light your walk from the car park to the front door. It is also equipped with a rechargeable torch for use during your stay. This cottage is fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors which are hardwired and radio linked and  tested weekly. All electrical appliances are PAT tested annually. The Tallet

This is a split level cottage with level walking from the car park to the 5 steps rising to the front door. The sleeping accommodation is on the lower level down a stair case with a stair gate at the top. It has a standard height kitchen and all switches and sockets are at standard height. This property is carpeted throughout apart from the kitchen, shower room and ensuite. The shower room and ensuite are normally fitted. Both showers have a small step into them of some 23cms. Water is supplied to the cottage from our own bore hole. At night the cottage has a PIR light to light your walk from the car park to the front door. It is also equipped with a rechargeable torch for use during your stay. This cottage is fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors which are hardwired and radio linked and tested weekly. All electrical appliances are PAT tested annually. A fire blanket is provided in the kitchen. A fire blanket and extingishers are provided in the kitchen.

 

Grounds and gardens

There a large lawned area next to the car park with a sitting area and barbeque. Visitors are most welcome to walk around the farm. The drive is tarmac and fairly flat around the cottages. Please ask if you are unsure about suitability of path etc. Please note down by the waterfall on the opposite side of the drive there are two deep unfenced ponds, care should be taken at all times and children supervised.

Out and about in the area

If you are unsure about whether places are suitable to visit, please just ask. The nearest village is St. Neot which has a village shop, pub and church.
Mobile reception can be variable, but if you move around you can usually pick up one.
