Access/Fire Statement for Mennabroom Farm Bed and Breakfast

We like to cater for the needs of all our visitors, but as Mennabroom was built over the years in three stages it is on different levels.  There are steps and stairs which for some may present difficulties.  Please contact us for specific information and we hope the following statement will be helpful.  We are a non smoking building and as it is our home so occupied 24 hours.

Pre-arrival

We are located 8.5 miles from Bodmin and 11 miles from Liskeard.
The nearest train station is Bodmin Parkway and is 5 miles away.
The nearest cities are Truro 33 miles and Plymouth 31 miles.
Owing to the location of Mennabroom your own transport is essential. Please look at the how to find us section on our website. Please do not use Satnav as it does not work with our postcode.

If arriving by plane or train, Enterprise cars of Bodmin will happily meet you with a hire car.

Arrival and car parking

On arrival at the farmhouse please park by the studio.  The area is level and of tarmac construction.  The front door is up the side of the studio.  There is a knocker to alert us of your arrival.  We always offer assistance with luggage and are always here to welcome new arrivals.  Parking and pathways are illuminated at night.

Useful information about the house

The front door opens into the hall down one step, 12cms, which is quarry tiled and lit at night.  From the hall there is one step up, 12cms, into the sitting room which is exclusively for guests use.  This room is carpeted and has a wood burner. Logs and coal are provided and it is always lit in inclement weather.  The furniture is traditional style, offering two, two seater sofas and two individual Victorian armchairs.  Off this room, up 4 slate steps, 20cms, with handrail is the dining room.  Breakfast is served on a large communal table with plenty of room to seat 8 comfortably. Breakfast cereals etc. are displayed on a dresser in the room. Special diets are catered for, so please just ask. 

The room is well it and the floor is tiled with a large non slip rug. Throughout the house are numerous book cases for our guests use together with cards and games.
Returning to the sitting room, there is one step up, 20cms, into a small slate area with rug at the bottom of the stairs.
The stairs number 11,18cms high and are built on a curve with handrails.  They are well it and carpeted.  At the top of the stairs is the landing with a small reading area with armchairs.  Our two bedrooms are off this landing.

The Pink Room

This bedroom is accessed from the landing with a slight step up into the room. The bedroom can be used either as a super king sized double bed or as a twin.  On either side of the bed/beds are bedside tables with lamps and an alarm clock. There is room to access the bed/beds from all sides. In the bedroom which is carpeted are comfy armchairs with arms, a digital freeview television with remote, mini fridge, guide books, magazines, hairdryer and complimentary teas,coffees etc. for your use are supplied. The windows overlook the garden. There are several electric sockets in the bedroom.  The rooms are centrally heated with individual thermostats on the radiators. We provide feather and down duvets and pillows as standard, however alternatives can be supplied on request.

From the bedroom  on the same level is the ensuite shower room. This is a spacious room and has a vinyl floor and heated towel rail. The shower has a double door access and a small step up into it. A non slip mat is provided for use in the shower.  All the bathroom fittings are of a standard height. It has a pull cord to activate the lights and a shaver point by the basin. Complimentary toiletries are supplied together with towels and robes.  A chair is provided for your comfort.

The Blue Room

This room is accessed from the landing. There is a small step, 10cms, as you walk along to a door with a step down, 14cms, onto an elm floor which needs to be opened to access this suite.  The door on the left accesses the bedroom and the door straight ahead the shower room.

The bedroom can be used either as a super king sized double bed or as a twin.  On either side of the bed are bedside tables with lamps and an alarm clock.  There is plenty of room to access the bed/beds from all sides. In the room are comfy chairs, digital freeview television with remote, guide books, magazines and complimentary tea/coffee tray for your use.  There is a large built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table with hairdryer. This room has an elm floor and non slip rugs.  Windows overlook the garden and moor and valley beyond. Both the bedroom and shower room are well lit. From the bedroom, the shower room is access off the private lobby. There are several electric sockets in the bedroom.  The rooms are centrally heated with individual thermostats on the radiators. We provide feather and down duvets and pillows as standard, however alternatives can be supplied on request.

From the bedroom, the shower room is access off the private lobby. The shower room is a spacious room with an elm floor, non slip rug and heated towel rail.  The shower has two opening side doors with a small step into it.  A non slip mat is provided for your use.  The lights for the shower room are switched on the outside of the door in the lobby. All the fittings are of standard height and complimentary toiletries are supplied alongside towels and robes. A chair is provided for your comfort.

Additional information

In the event of a fire in your room, please get out quickly, close the door and sound the alarm if it is practicable. Assemble in the car park.  The fire extinguishers are situated on the landing and at the bottom of the stairs.  This property is fitted with smoke and cardon monoxide dectectors which are hard wired and radio linked and are tested weekly. Guests with impaired hearing are asked to advise us. If the fire is not in your room, leave if it is safe to do so.  Don’t try to pick up any valuables or possessions on the way.  All electricial items are PAT tested annually for our guests safety.

Laundry and drying services on request.

Mobile reception is variable, but if you move around you can usually pick up a signal. WIFI is available in the bedrooms and sitting area and free of charge.

Grounds and Gardens

Visitors are most welcome to use the patio area by the front door for relaxation.  Please feel free to wander around the farm.  Please ask if you are unsure about paths etc.  Please note by the waterfall on the opposite side of the drive are two unfenced deep ponds so care should be take in this area and children must be supervised at all times.
